Chapter 14

Kade

Arousal created such a strong haze that Kade nearly missed what Liam had said entirely.

“What?” he blurted out. Liam threw his head back and laughed before lying down to rest against the sand on his back. He held his arms out to reach for Kade, and he obliged. He slid forward in a fluid motion and hovered above Liam’s body to rest on his elbows so as not to crush Liam beneath his weight. Sometimes it worried Kade, just how small Liam was. But his feisty little star had a few pointed edges, he found, and he probably didn’t need to worry as much as he did.

“I said, I want you,” Liam repeated. “I’ve missed you so, so much, Kade. I want you. All of you.”

Was he saying what he hoped he was saying? Kade’s cock twitched underneath the thick carapace of scales. There was no way he’d be able to hide the damn thing for much longer.

Kade grinned, giving Liam a glimpse of his fangs. There was nothing Kade wanted more than to gently press his fangs into the crook of Liam’s neck, marking him as his, and only his. He wasn’t the possessive sort of guy, but he couldn’t help himself with Liam. Part of him wanted to scoop him up and carry him off to his den like he was buried treasure.

Slow down, man. You’re going too fast.

“Listen, Liam…” Kade started, and Liam’s adorable face scrunched up. “No, it’s nothing bad. I… I want to take things a little slower with you if that’s alright?”

“Oh,” Liam said. His bright smile returned. “Of course. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to… I hope I didn’t pressure you.”

Liam, pressure him? Hardly. He’d only been daydreaming about having Liam in every way possible for the past decade.

Kade dragged a claw against Liam’s bottom lip. “No. Not at all, love. But I used sex as a way to cope with my own depression for years. I took and took from my partners. They enjoyed it, I guess, but—”

Liam frowned. “Stop. I seriously don’t want to hear about your past partners, Kade.”

“Sorry,” Kade said. He was already fucking things up. Great. “What I mean is, I don’t want to take anymore. I want to give, for once. I want to please you.”

Liam rubbed up and down Kade’s scaly arms, warming his skin with the friction. “I understand what you mean. Sex means something different to you. Look, if anyone understands that, it’s me.”

Kade quirked a brow. “What do you mean?”

“I’ve never had sex. Never wanted to. I looked it up back in high school and learned I’m demisexual. It’s, uh…” Liam paused and licked his bottom lip. The sight was enticing, but Kade was determined to listen to Liam without his erection distracting him. “It’s hard to explain, but it’s part of the asexual spectrum. It only means I don’t have sexual attraction to anyone until I’ve formed a bond with them. Like you.”

Wait, was that a real thing? If Liam said it was, then it was.
